Becoming A Person

Hello

This will be my first post on my first ever blog. I never really saw myself as the person who'd create something like this, but I've begun to think that, as I've started to prepare for law school, that I'll need an outlet for my thoughts and interests unrelated to what'll ultimately dominate my life for the next few years.

One of my biggest fears that I've yet to fully come to terms with is that in growing up, I'll lose the part of myself that contains (what I perceive as) my personality, whimsy, and interests. Effectively, I'll lose my soul as I age. And the fact I'm going to law school after an education in animation and game development only exacerbates that feeling.

As of writing, my future is very indeterminant. I've escaped a failing major that atrophied my mind and am in the midst of an insane career (and eventually social) pivot. Between my queer furry cohort and the world of law, where will I find myself? Will there even be a need for distinction? I don't want to be naive and say no, but maybe there won't be.

One of the biggest themes for me over this past year has been finding my true self. I won't advocate for any specific method to facilitate this, but what I've done is constantly shock and expose myself to things I never perceived myself ready for. LSAT studying. Working two jobs. Working on a video game. Going to raves. Openly talking about my sexuality and gender with friends and the guilt associated with either topic. The like. So perhaps going to law school is the next step in that, as I'm entering with an awfully lofty goal of making sure my impact is most felt in this field over all others I've considered. Obviously, most is a highly flexible term- but this too may be part of my maturing. The realization that this lofty goal of mine, a guiding light that's sought to justify any one of my interests or pursuits thereof, will take immense amounts of effort to ensure its occurrence.

Herein lies this blog. I don't want to sound facetious, disingenuous, irony-poisoned, or however one might categorize masking ones emotions with specific humor or self deprecation. I want to talk about the things I like more. I want to fully grow out of who I thought I was and find myself anew; dirty, unconventional, questionable, and with loads of room for discussion. I want to live my life in complete acuity, and this blog will serve as my space for info-dumping, separation from the day-to-day, and living room away from my living room.

I don't know who I am yet. I know not what I will be. But here I am, so hello!
